The only way to get health care costs under control is to create a baseline public option that RATIONS healthcare. The “R” word is a bad one, but costs are completely out of control because no one is really putting limits on what is and is not covered…New products, especially drugs, are complete run-aways of cost. A national healthcare option should cover basic, well-documented, therapies and major drugs, esp. all drugs that have become generic. We are on a crazy course of being addicted to healthcare services when many of them simply don’t work and are not needed. In any event, the hard work of figuring what to cover and what not to cover must occur to contain costs. There is no simple solution…Some things just can’t be covered.
