Intel is waaay behind in microprocessors for mobile devices and tablets…Consumers don’t give a hoot about “Intel Inside” anymore as the market has matured…Apple has proven that what’s outside (the packaging) is far more important than a sticker pointing to what’s inside…Obviously, Intel has a solid business in server hardware, but this is a sophisticated and mature (read: price-sensitive) space.
Personally, I have opted for AMD processors for 3 of my last 4 laptop/desktop purchases (cheaper and really great processors).
Instead of going after the content industry (cable), they should be looking at cloud services and storage (but Amazon, Google, and Apple are better at building and branding services)…We’ll see where Intel nets out. I don’t count them out, but this last rosy quarter is not a new trend, but a tipping point (the reverse kind…)
